Minimum Liquid Discharge

Minimum liquid discharge is the process by which a system recycles treated water or wastewater within its own system to limit how much is discharged into the environment. Similar to zero liquid discharge or ZLD, minimum liquid discharge or MLD uses crystalizers and evaporators that generate heat to release the treated water into the atmosphere. Minimum liquid discharge is seen more commonly than zero liquid discharge because it is not as costly as ZLD but still meets environmental regulations.
