The City of Odessa, Texas, has selected Carollo Engineers to design and provide construction-phase engineering services for a new Bob Derrington Water Reclamation Plant (BDWRP), replacing the existing facility.

Originally constructed in 1977 and expanded in 1995, the BDWRP is rated for an average daily flow of 12.7 million gallons per day and a peak two-hour flow of 47 million gallons per day. Most treated effluent is reused by industrial customers or for irrigation, while a smaller portion is discharged to Monahan’s Draw.

The multi-year replacement project will address aging infrastructure while improving treatment performance, redundancy and operational reliability. Planned upgrades span the treatment process from headworks through disinfection, reclaimed-water delivery and solids handling. Improvements also will include odor control, mechanical and piping replacements, pumping and conveyance upgrades and updated electrical systems and SCADA.

The project is being designed to maintain wastewater treatment and reuse services throughout construction. Carollo previously completed a condition assessment and facility master plan for the plant.

Construction is expected to be completed by spring 2033.
