Zero Liquid Discharge

Zero liquid discharge is a process through which water and wastewater is treated to be reused within the same system without the need to discharge the water to the environment. This process often uses crystalizers and evaporators to generate enough heat to evaporate treated water and wastewater into the atmosphere. This process is most commonly used at power plants, particularly in China where environmental regulations have driven the adoption of ZLD and minimum liquid discharge processes.
