Crypto.com has donated $1 million to water.org, a clean-water initiative co-founded by Matt Damon and Gary White in 2009.

According to The Coin Telegraph, the direct donation will go toward supporting water.org’s mission of ending the global water crisis. This mission aims to provide safe water and sanitation. The partnership also aims to connect water.org to Crypto.com’s more than 10 million users, who are encouraged to donate to the project.

“As our financial solutions and platforms evolve, we can use them for good,” said Damon, reported The Coin Telegraph. “Crypto.com and water.org are both working toward positive transformation, and our innovative, financial solutions will help change lives and the world.”

According to Damon, the ongoing “financial transformation” brought on by cryptocurrency is the reason water.org is partnering with Crypto.com. As Covid-19 continues to impact the world, water.org is working to bring water resources to communities that are seeing some of the most damaging effects from the ongoing pandemic, reported Forbes.

Water.org has positively impacted more than 38 million lives around the world with water access.

“First of all, the donation is obviously huge and we’ll put that money right to work,” Damon said to Forbes. “When Crypto.com approached me about collaborating with them, I immediately saw the parallels to what we do at water.org because our work is built on financial solutions. You get this up-and-coming company that has a social conscience and is just all in with what we’re doing and they see alignment with the aspect of helping people solve their problems. We’re excited about the partnership.”
