Construction is underway on an expansion of the City of Denton’s Pecan Creek Water Reclamation Plant designed to increase wastewater treatment capacity and modernize plant operations.

Sundt is leading the project, which includes a new 75-million-gallon-per-day headworks facility and a 30-mgd expansion using membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology. The improvements are intended to increase treatment capacity and reliability as wastewater demand grows in the region.

The project also includes ultraviolet disinfection systems, anaerobic digesters, expanded solids handling, underground utility upgrades and site improvements within the existing plant footprint.

Construction will be phased to allow the existing treatment facility to remain operational while the new improvements are built.

Once complete, the expansion will provide additional treatment capacity and updated infrastructure to support Denton’s continued growth.
