RWL Water Acquires Acquavit in Brazil
RWL Water, a New York-based global water, wastewater and waste-to-energy company, has successfully completed its acquisition of Acquavit (Acquavit Comércio E Indústria de Sistemas De Tratamento De Água Ltda.), a Brazilian water and wastewater treatment company. Headquartered in Jundiai, São Paulo, Brazil, Acquavit’s team has decades of experience providing clients with water treatment solutions throughout Brazil.
The acquisition of Acquavit, which has been renamed RWL Water Brasil, reinforces RWL Water’s strategy to further expand in the largest markets in South-America and will help promote the company’s global experience in water, wastewater, and reuse solutions to municipal and industrial customers. In 2013, RWL Water acquired Unitek (now known as RWL Water Argentina), which has secured several strategic contracts throughout Latin America since the acquisition.
RWL Water Brasil will be working closely with RWL Water’s other international sister companies in Argentina, Italy, Israel and the U.S. to provide treatment solutions, including RWL Water’s packaged and decentralized systems, to its customer base in Brazil.
‘’We are very excited to welcome Acquavit to the RWL Water family. This acquisition is a testimony to our confidence not only in our new partners, but in Brazil’s economy and its future growth potential. Brazil is facing significant water scarcity issues, rising electricity prices, and wastewater problems, and we believe our global experience in desalination, reuse and waste-to-energy solutions are of particular relevance,” said RWL Water President and CEO Henry Charrabé.
“There is a gap in the Brazilian market for innovative water reuse technologies and projects. We feel that joining RWL Water will greatly benefit Acquavit and our customers. RWL Water is undoubtedly leaving its mark across the globe; strategically acquiring specialized companies and new technologies in order to increase the water solutions within the middle market. We are extremely excited to join the RWL Water team as they expand in Brazil and globally,” said Alexandre Melo, Acquavit executive and shareholder.
