Veolia Municipal Partners Recognized at Massachusetts Public Water Systems Awards

The communities were recognized for achievements and performance in 2014

The city of Gloucester, city of Lynn and the town of Sturbridge public water systems received awards from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection for recent achievements and superior performance in 2014. Veolia North America serves as the operations, maintenance and management partner to these communities, helping achieve high drinking water quality, compliance and safety.

"Though diverse in their size and scope, the public water systems in Gloucester, Lynn and Sturbridge reflect a strong commitment made by each community to the quality treatment of our most precious resource: water," said Vincent Martin, senior vice president, Northeast region for Veolia North America's Municipal and Commercial Business. 

  • Gloucester DPW Water Department — With its recent completion of $35 million in infrastructure improvements, the city of Gloucester received a Recognition Award acknowledging its commitment to maintaining high-quality drinking water and improving its public water system. The city also hosted a rededication ceremony and tour at the West Gloucester Water Treatment Plant commemorating the recently completed water system improvements, including treatment plants, pumping stations, water storage facilities, a critical water supply dam, and key water mains.
  • Sturbridge Water Department — Underscoring its exceptional performance in 2014, Sturbridge was awarded with a Medium and Large Community award, acknowledging the town's commitment to compliance and the quality of its public water system.
  • Lynn Water and Sewer Commission — The city of Lynn also was awarded a Medium and Large Community award for its excellent drinking water compliance record in the last year.
