The desire of man to stay healthy, happy and live in a clean environment is as old as Man himself. He may not have known how to achieve it through the ages but has always had that desire. One aspect of this is the knowledge of how to properly dispose of the wastes—liquid, solids and others—generated by his activities and living.
This paper primarily deals with the wastewater generated on a day-to-day basis and how it was handled through the ages.
