Day Zero: Lake Mead & Lake Powell as Water Scarcity Indicators

In the past decade, the West Coast has witnessed one of the longest and severest droughts in its history. The levels of Lake Mead and Lake Powell—which straddle the boarders of Utah, Arizona and Nevada—have been used as indicators of the drought's severity. Because of their popular recreational use, they have become teaching tools to educate the public on water scarcity and water conservation tactics.
