USFilter Introduces Biological Treatment Technology to North America

Process Boosts Performance of Wastewater Treatment Plants

USFilter signed a licensing agreement with AqWise - Wise Water Technologies Ltd., Netanya, Israel, to market and sell the AGAR? process to the municipal and industrial wastewater treatment industry in the United States and Canada.

The AGAR? (Attached Growth Airlift Reactor) process provides a high BOD removal rate and intensive nitrogen removal. The process can be used to expand or upgrade existing wastewater treatment plants and to efficiently treat bio-degradable industrial wastewater in a small footprint. The AGAR process is a combination of fixed-film and suspended growth technologies combined with airlift hydraulics.

The AGAR process increases active biomass volume and provides more treatment in less space, for municipal and industrial customers needing secondary biological treatment and nitrogen removal. Upgrades and expansions of existing treatment plants are performed with minimal new construction.
