NSF Expands Partnership With Standards Institute of Israel

May 3, 2007

NSF International has announced an agreement with The Standards Institution of Israel (SII) that will provide enhanced standards development and auditing services in Israel. The agreement expands the global reach of NSF’s drinking water and plumbing standards and will expedite certification services for companies located in or working in Israel.

Under the terms of the agreement, SII, Israel's official body for the development and publication of Israeli standards will offer ISO audits and certification services on behalf of NSF for NSF-certified companies located within Israel. NSF will also license SII to translate and distribute NSF/ANSI Standards throughout Israel.

Working with one certification organization will streamline the auditing process for manufacturers in Israel, and especially those manufacturers already working with SII. The partnership will also consolidate standard requirements and help reduce the overall number of required audits.

"NSF has developed an international reputation for its high quality conformity assessment and certification services in the fields of public health safety and the environmental sciences,” said Ziva Patir, director general of SII. “This is a blessed addition to the services offered by SII. It is part of SII's strategic choice to strengthen our relations with American organizations, for the benefit of Israeli industry."

This new expanded collaboration will provide enhanced services for drinking water and plumbing manufacturers in Israel interested in pursuing NSF certification. Having standards available in Hebrew and auditors that speak their language will also help expedite the certification process.

“We're pleased to expand our long-standing relationship with SII to offer additional services to meet clients’ increasing needs," said Bob Ferguson, vice president, NSF Water Systems. "By using SII’s expertise in standards development and auditing, we will be able to offer manufacturers throughout Israel efficient certification services and lower total costs of certification while continuing to provide expanded market opportunities for their products."

As part of the agreement, SII will conduct certification audits for drinking water devices, plastic and mechanical plumbing products, food equipment and bottled water in Israel.
