Industrial Wastewater Treatment & Reuse on the Rise

The increasing demand for water and concerns for reliable availability are driving water intensive industries such as petrochemical, food and beverage to turn to wastewater treatment and reuse to supplement, and in some cases, replace traditional sources of water.

Wastewater is quickly becoming a valuable and economical resource that can be treated to high-purity standards and reused in various industrial processes.

According to a recent Research and Markets water and wastewater treatment global business report, a demand for membrane treatment is surging for industrial water and wastewater treatment. The demand is led by a growing focus on water reuse, particularly in developed countries, and the growing need for quality water. Technologies growing in popularity include zero liquid discharge systems and desalination technologies, the report stated.

Whether driven by the decline of available freshwater resources or the desire for sustainability through emission- and effluent-free recycling of wastewater, this trend is here to stay.
