Filter Backwash Rule Expected Soon

May 9, 2001

The rule, which was originally proposed with the Long-Term 1 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule addressing microbial requirements for small water systems, will be promulgated separately. Although the final requirements are not known, it is expected that several changes were made to the proposed rule that would reduce its impact on water systems.
