WEF’s WEFTEC is still being held this year, according to an Apr. 28, 2020 WEF press release.
WEFTEC, originally scheduled for Oct. 3-7, 2020, in New Orleans, is a critical way that the community comes together to connect water professionals, enrich their expertise, increase the awareness of the value of water, and provide a platform for water sector innovation, said the WEF press release.
“We know that COVID-19 (coronavirus) is having a profound impact on all of you and the timeline for recovery is uncertain. But during these challenging times it is vital that our sector continues to learn and engage, and WEF will hold WEFTEC this year, whether in hybrid form with both in-person activities and online components or as a full virtual event,” continued the company’s press release.
The format will evolve depending on circumstances with the coronavirus.
“We are committed to providing opportunities to our members and industry professionals that meet interests, ability to travel and financial resources,” said the WEF press release. “WEF leadership will continue to monitor the situation with coronavirus including information from the World Health Organization (WHO), Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and state and local health authorities. We also are aware of the challenges with coronavirus in New Orleans and are in close communication with state and city officials, the convention center, and hotels.”
The press release adds that individuals should continue to monitor the WEFTEC website and WEF’s coronavirus resource page for the most up-to-date information and resources for the water sector.
