Glen Daigger will receive the award during WEFTEC

CH2M HILL’s chief technology officer will receive the esteemed Eddy Wastewater Principles/Processes Medal from the Water Environment Federation.

This is the third time that Glen T. Daigger, also the company’s senior vice president, will receive the award. The award will be presented during WEFTEC 2008 in Chicago, Ill.

“Glen’s contributions to both the water industry and CH2M HILL are immeasurable,” said Bob Bailery, the company’s water business group president. “In the nearly 30 years Glen has worked for CH2M HILL, he has become one of the world’s leading experts in wastewater treatment. He holds several patents for wastewater treatment processes and has authored or co-authored more than 100 technical papers, technical manuals and books for the wastewater treatment industry. He also has a great legacy of mentorship to young people in CH2M HILL and the industry.”

Daigger, along with fellow authors Craig D. Adams and Holley Kaempfer Steller are being recognized for their article, “Diffusion of Oxygen through Activated Sludge Flocs: Experimental Measurement, Modeling, and Implications for Simultaneous Nitrification and Denitrification,” which was published in the April 2007 issue of Water Environment Research.

Their research introduced a significant step toward understanding the nitrification and denitrification process in the presence of flocs (aggregated solid matter).

The Eddy Medal honors prominent engineer and pioneer in the field of wastewater treatment Harrison Prescott Eddy. The medal is awarded for research that makes a vital contribution to wastewater treatment process and principles as described and published in a WEF periodical.
