Nov. 14, 2011

Water & Wastes Digest is pleased to announce that Siu Kwan Dave Ho is the winner of the 8th annual WWEMA/WWD Scholarship Award.

As part of the award, WWD provides a $1,000 scholarship to a student accepted to a college or university to pursue a career in the environmental sciences, and who has a parent employed by a WWEMA-member company.

Following an examination of the 2011 applicants, the Scholarship Committee determined that Dave was the ideal scholarship applicant.

He is a student of bioengineering at the UC Berkeley School of Engineering. His extracurricular activities include: Science Bowl Captain, Ocean Sciences Bowl and annual independent science research, including the 2010 Irvine Ranch Water District award-winning project on freshwater planarian research.

WWD Managing Editor Caitlin Cunningham presented the $1,000 scholarship check and an honorary award at the WWEMA 103rd Annual Meeting in St. Pete Beach, Fla.

Accepting on the winner’s behalf was Tom Mills, vice president of marketing and business development for Severn Trent Services.

WWD will begin accepting applications for the 2012 WWEMA/WWD Scholarship in the spring of 2012.
