Watercon 2013 Features Technical Sessions, Award Presentations

Event is Illinois’ largest water conference in the state covering potable water & wastewater

Watercon 2013, the largest water conference in Illinois that covers potable water and wastewater issues, was held March 18 to 20, 2013 in Springfield, Ill. Presented by the Illinois Section American Water Works Assn. (AWWA) and the Illinois Water Environment Assn., the event featured technical sessions, exhibits and award presentations.

Industry professionals and academics attended the conference, which also included committee meetings and networking events. A Water Industry Career Fair was held on Tuesday, while Wednesday was deemed Young Professionals Day, and included panels and networking events for those looking to begin careers in the water industry.

In addition to the presentations and exhibitions, Watercon also included the 19th Annual Water Taste Contest. Five Illinois utilities competed: Village of Montgomery, Village of Romeoville, EJ Water Cooperative, Village of Park Forest and Central Lake County Joint Action Water Authority.

The winner, EJ Water Cooperative, will compete in the national competition at AWWA ACE13 in Denver in June.
