The organization was recognized for promoting diversity in the construction industry

The board of commissioners of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) recently presented a resolution to representatives of the Hispanic American Construction Industry Assn. (HACIA) for promoting diversity in the construction industry.

HACIA was established in 1979 to provide proper skills and tools needed to succeed in the construction industry. The group sponsors bilingual job training and promotes professional development.

HACIA hosts an annual banquet, which is recognized as the largest construction industry event in the Midwest. The program includes a member and partner recognition ceremony to recognize those who have worked throughout the year to support the Association's mission.

"HACIA is very honored to be recognized for our commitment in advocating for minorities in the construction industry," said Jorge Perez, HACIA's executive director. "We are excited to honor individuals and bring together more than 1,200 guests in the construction sector at our upcoming 36th Annual Awards Banquet. We appreciate the commitment that the MWRD has continued to make in providing opportunities for minority companies over the years."

"The MWRD has been a pioneer in recognizing economic contributions of minority businesses, and we will continue to advocate policies which support aspirations of minority communities and businesses," said Chairman of Finance Frank Avila. "We are grateful for all of the good work HACIA does to advance Hispanic minorities in the construction industry. It is with great pleasure that we honor HACIA each year."
