Force Control Industries has expanded its MAGNASHEAR oil shear brake line with new 460V AC spring-set, electrically released models designed for high-duty industrial applications requiring reliable stopping, low heat generation and minimal maintenance. The brakes use pulse-width modulation to reduce energy consumption while delivering precise stopping and repeatable positioning in high-cycling or reversing applications common in water and wastewater facilities.

MAGNASHEAR brakes transmit torque through a lubricated fluid film rather than dry friction, virtually eliminating wear and removing the need for adjustment. Heat is continuously dissipated through an internal fluid recirculation system, while fluid damping provides smooth, cushioned stops that reduce shock loading on drivetrains. The fully enclosed design protects internal components from moisture, dust and contaminants, supporting long service life in harsh or washdown environments.

Available with spring-set torque ratings from 3 to 1250 lb-ft, the brakes can be sized independently of motor horsepower and are offered with quick-mount configurations for NEMA 56 to 449T frame sizes. Maintenance is limited to an annual fluid change, helping operators reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
