Desalitech, a provider of high efficiency water treatment solutions, announced that Dr. Rafael Simon will serve on the company’s advisory board. In this role, Simon will help guide development and implementation of Desalitech’s reverse osmosis products and technology for water treatment, wastewater treatment, water reuse and desalination applications.

Simon is a director of several cleantech start-ups and has cofounded several companies including Alpha Membrane Technologies.

“Rafael is a highly respected and leading voice in the world of water treatment and reuse, and he joins our advisory board at a time of exciting growth for Desalitech globally,” said Nadav Efraty, CEO of Desalitech. “We look forward to his contributions.”

Simon previously worked as a venture partner at VantagePoint, as COO of ZENON Environmental and as a consultant at McKinsey & Co. where he specialized in developing corporate growth strategies. He received a Ph.D. in materials science & mineral engineering from UC Berkeley in 1996.

“This is an exciting time in clean tech and water treatment, as more and more leaders of industry are recognizing both the value and importance of high efficiency solutions for their water use,” said Simon.

The announcement comes on the heels other major announcements for Desalitech earlier this month, including a partnership with filtration specialists Pall Corporation, and a zero liquid discharge project win for Novelis in China.
