Texas Governor Visits Israeli Desalination Plant

Visit was part of an economic development mission

On Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, Texas Governor Gregg Abbott visited the Sorek seawater desalination plant in Sorek, Israel, as part of an economic development mission, hosted by IDE CEO Avshalom Felber.

During his visit, the governor expressed his intention to partner with Israeli technology companies such as IDE to develop and deploy water solutions for Texas, Israel and the world. Felber and the governor discussed the importance of providing an uninterruptable water supply to industries in Texas.

Governor Abbott noted that water supply security is a key component to the economic competitiveness of Texas. He also expressed the importance of the private and public sectors working together to establish water infrastructure. He stressed that drought will return to Texas and that seawater desalination should be part of the solution to assure that Texas does not run short of water.
