Agreement will lead to biological wastewater treatment system in Indian state of Gujarat

Xylem Inc. has been awarded a contract to work with Essar Projects (India) Limited to install its Sanitaire ICEAS biological treatment system in a wastewater treatment plant in Jamnagar, in the Indian state of Gujarat. Xylem will be responsible for the new installation, as well as for providing ongoing service and maintenance for the 70-million-Lpd-capacity wastewater treatment plant for the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation.

The new plant will treat all the municipal wastewater in Jamnagar. The treated wastewater will be reused for non-potable industrial purposes, providing a cheaper alternative to the region's reliance on water from the Narmada River.

Essar Projects Limited is a global engineering, procurement and construction company, and it will design, build, operate and oversee this project, which is part of the integrated coastal zone management project financed by the World Bank.

"We are proud to be working with Essar Projects to install this wastewater treatment plant to help solve the water issues in Jamnagar," said H. Bala, managing director of Xylem India. "This project showcases our extensive expertise and advanced wastewater technology solutions. We are committed to meeting our customers' needs and are confident that we are providing the best solutions in the industry."
