The West Basin (Calif.) Municipal Water District pre-selected Trojan Technologies Inc. from suppliers around the world to provide it with UV equipment for its water recycling facilities in southwest Los Angeles County.

Valued at approximately CDN $2.7 million, the equipment is to be delivered in the summer of 2004. The system will be treating a flow of 47 million liters of water each day at the West Basin Water Recycling Facility located in El Segundo, Calif. The highly treated recycled water will then be injected into local aquifers to protect against seawater intrusion.

The recycled water must be treated to levels that meet or exceed California Department of Health Services standards for drinking water. While providing disinfection, the Trojan system will also be providing a barrier to any unwanted chemicals in the water.
