The Fluid Waste Management Choice

Aug. 6, 2019

Ultrafiltration membrane technology reduces energy use, reduces wash water and detergent costs, and significantly improves washer cleaner savings.

Ultrafiltration (UF) excels at the clarification of solutions containing suspended solids, bacteria, and high concentrations of macromolecules, including oil and water. This is a pressure-driven process using membranes that are characterized by their molecular weight cut-off. No chemical additives are required. Ultrafiltration removes a variety of suspended solids and organic impurities from water and other solutions for optimum water management, including:

  • Organics;
  • Emulsified oils;
  • Metal hydroxides;
  • Emulsions;
  • Dispersed material;
  • Suspended solids;
  • Silica; and
  • Other large molecular weight materials

Ultrafiltration’s membrane technology is simple. The membrane separates the wash water, rinse water, and oily wastewater into two streams. One contains the concentrated disposable water and the other contains clean water or recyclable wash water. Effluent water can then be discharged to sewers or reused to extend its useful life.

PRAB utilizes the latest technologies when designing ultrafiltration systems. Depending on the industry application, hollow fiber, tubular or other types of membranes can be selected. Systems are fully assembled, tested, and ready to install for efficient operation with minimal maintenance, and a 100% performance guarantee.

Documented Results

  • Eaton Corp. of Marshall, Mich., achieved a total washer cleaner savings of $196,000 a year and reduced energy use by 20% using PRAB Ultrafiltration;
  • 21 recent customers are saving $2.6 million annually using PRAB Industrial Water & Wastewater treatment equipment;
  • Reduced cost of wash water and detergents of up to 75%; and
  • Decreased wastewater haul-away costs of up to 90%
