What is 1,4-dioxane? Why is it used and how can you treat it in water?

Used to stabilize chlorinated solvents, 1,4-dioxane is found in paint strippers, greases, dyes, antifreeze and more. While not regulated by the U.S. EPA at this time, some utilities across the country are seeking ways to remove this human carcinogen from their water.
