Pennsylvania American Water has completed its $3.25 million acquisition of the Sutersville-Sewickley Municipal Sewage Authority wastewater system in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.

The system serves approximately 500 customer connections in Sutersville Borough and Sewickley Township. The company plans to invest approximately $700,000 in system improvements over the next five years to improve service quality and reliability.

The acquisition was approved by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission on March 26, 2026, following the authority's May 2025 decision to sell the system. The utility said the investment will also support ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements.

The system's former board determined that Pennsylvania American Water was best positioned to operate and maintain the system and address its capital needs. The acquisition expands the company's wastewater operations in Westmoreland County.
