Fetus Discovered at Wastewater Treatment Plant in Georgia

The fetus was discovered at the J.B. Messerly Water Pollution Control Plant

A human fetus was discovered at the J.B. Messerly Water Pollution Control Plant in Augusta, Ga., on May 8, 2018. The fetus was found lodged in some of the wastewater treatment plant’s machinery.

The Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen was brought to the scene after it was found. According to Bowen, plant workers performing routine pipe maintenance made the initial discovery.

The fetus is thought to be approximately 20 weeks old, and the race and gender are unknown at this juncture. It is also unknown at this point how it came to arrive at the wastewater treatment plant.

The investigation into the nature of the incident is ongoing with many details still yet to be filled in.
