Organization welcomes new board president, vice president & members

The National Assn. of Water Companies (NAWC) announced the organization’s new board of directors.

Martin Kropelnicki, president and CEO of California Water Service Group, has been elected president of the NAWC board of directors. Kropelnicki replaces Joe Gysel, president of EPCOR Water USA. David Stanton, president of SUEZ North America’s Utility Business, has been elected vice president of the board of directors.

“We’re honored to have Marty serve as our board president for 2016 to 2017,” said Michael Deane, NAWC executive director. “Marty is one of our industry’s most respected and proven leaders, and we look forward to our organization’s continued growth during his tenure.”

“The success NAWC has experienced over this past year is in large part due to Joe’s leadership, and I owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude for the commitment he made to the association,” Deane said. “The strength of our organization reflects the guidance of a board of directors comprised of some of the leading authorities in the water industry. Their tireless service is essential to the role NAWC plays in moving the nation’s water forward.”

Kropelnicki was appointed president and CEO of California Water Service Group in September 2013 after joining the group in 2006 first as chief financial officer and treasurer, and then as president and chief operating officer in 2012. He brings more than 25 years of finance and operations experience, enabling him to offer valuable perspectives on the group’s corporate planning and budgeting, along with operational and financial reporting.

Stanton serves as president of SUEZ North America’s Business Segment, where he is responsible for overseeing the operations and management of regulated water and wastewater businesses across the nation. He has more than 25 years of experience in the water industry in the U.S. and abroad. Prior to joining SUEZ North America, a subsidiary of SUEZ, Stanton served as CEO and member of the board of APTwater, a company focused on water reuse.
