Bill Davidson announced his retirement from Tsurumi Pump.
Davidson held numerous positions over his 30-year career. 1969 to 1978, he was district manager for ASH Pump Co. The role helped Davidson learn the skills that would define his career and enable him to help establish Tsurumi as a contender in the mining industry.
“I came to Tsurumi Pump because of the experience I gained during my time at ASH Pump,” said Davidson. “I was in charge of many of the applications found in mining, including mine dewatering, slurry pump systems and long distance pipelines. As a distributor, I was able to recognize the value of Tsurumi pumps in the world of mining and be the first to use them in that capacity.”
In 1989, Davidson started his own engineering sales company, Tsurumi Distributors, to service the mining industry from its headquarters in West Jordan, Utah. Tsurumi Pump acquired his company in 2008, naming Davidson its North American general manager in the process. He served the company in this position from the U.S. headquarters in Glendale Heights, Ill., until 2011 when he relocated to Utah, staying onboard with Tsurumi as an engineering application specialist.
Davidson played a key role in advancing the company’s awareness throughout the U.S. and abroad, using his technical expertise to engineer application solutions and provide needed support to customers. He also mentored numerous salespeople who are still working in the pumping field today, many of whom remain with Tsurumi.
“Bill’s biggest asset is his ability to forge relationships with his partners and customers,” said Glenn Wieczorek, managing director for Tsurumi. “When you can exemplify the level of expertise and the dedication to business ethics that Bill has over the course of his entire career, people come to rely on you because they trust your judgment.”
Davidson has been an active member of the Society of Mining Engineers for more than 30 years. He plans to spend his retirement in Utah, where he will spend quality time with his grandchildren and discover new hobbies.
Davidson added: “After all these years in the pump business, I want to seek out all those things that I never had a chance to do.”
