WestWater Research Names Newest Principal

Matt Payne leads the firm's Phoenix office

WestWater Research, an economic and financial consulting firm in the water industry, announced that Matt Payne was named its newest principal effective July 1, 2015.

Payne leads the firm's Phoenix office, and focuses his practice on water resource development and water asset transactions. He advises a range of private, public and non-profit sector clients on economic, financial and strategic issues related to water supply planning and implementation. In recent years, Payne has been engaged by Arizona's largest water provider to lead planning and implementation of the most extensive renewable water acquisition program in the U.S. The program has executed nearly $100 million in water transactions, ranging from rotational farm fallowing agreements to acquisition and development of reclaimed water.

For private equity and industrial clients, Payne originates water and wastewater investments, and leads due diligence in support of transactions. He frequently works as a part of multidisciplinary teams, contributing economic and financial analytical capabilities to water resource and integrated utility planning projects. Payne holds an M.B.A. from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, and a B.A. in economics from Colorado College. He has published extensively in industry and peer-reviewed journals.
