Compressor Series Named Product of the Year at AHR Expo

Feb. 6, 2015
The series also won in the green building category

Danfoss was awarded top honors during the 2015 AHR Expo in Chicago when a panel of judges named its Turbocor VTT series of compressors “Product of the Year.”

The Product of the Year Award is given to one of the year’s 10 AHR Expo Innovation Award winners, and was announced during the award presentation ceremony on Jan. 27. Danfoss Turbocor VTT series of compressors had previously been named the 2015 AHR Expo Innovation Award winner in the Green Building category.

Intended for water-cooled chillers and with capacities of 350 tons per compressor, Turbocor VTT (Variable Twin Turbo) compressors are oil-free, variable speed, magnetic bearing centrifugal compressors ideal for commercial air-conditioning or process cooling chillers reaching up to 1,000 tons or more. The series introduces IntraFlow, a technology that improves efficiency and provides an extended stable operating range while simplifying capacity control. It eliminates the need for inlet guide vanes or mechanical variable geometry diffuser. The compressors also feature a new drive technology.

This marks the third and fourth times Danfoss Turbocor Compressors has been recognized in the AHR Expo Innovation Awards; it is the first time a Turbocor product has been named Product of the Year. In total, Danfoss has now been recognized 19 times over the past 12 years in the Innovation Awards program—more than any other HVACR manufacturer.

The AHR Expo Innovation Awards recognize some of the most innovative HVACR products and technologies on the market. The annual competition is jointly sponsored by ASHRAE; the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute; and the International Exposition Co. (IEC), producers and organizers of the AHR Expo. Winners are chosen in each of 10 product categories based on innovation, value and impact on the market.
