Badger Meter is the official sponsor of the 2013 Meter Madness Contest sponsored by the American Water Works Assn. (AWWA) and culminating at the Annual Conference and Exhibition (ACE13) in Denver June 9 to 13. In this national competition, water industry personnel will work against the clock, and each other, to determine who can accurately assemble the Badger Meter Recordall Disc Series Meter M25 in the shortest amount of time.
According to Jan Boyer, marketing product manager at Badger Meter, the company selected its Recordall Disc Series Meter M25 for the competition because its innovative nutating disc design makes it the most accurate meter in low flow environments. Ideal for small- to mid-sized residential and commercial applications, it meets or exceeds registration accuracy rates for volumes as low as 1/8 gal per minute (gpm) to as high as 170 gpm, while also reducing wear and pressure loss and extending field performance.
Throughout the year leading up to the national contest, AWWA Sections host their own competitions and then have the opportunity to send two representatives per section to compete for the national Meter Madness title. Competitors may request a practice meter from the sponsoring meter manufacturer to prepare for the event. Boyer says Badger Meter already has shipped out about 200 practice units. To request one, participants should visit www.badgermeter.com/metermadness.
“The Meter Madness Contest is a great way for utility professionals to showcase their skills and join in a friendly competition,” says Boyer. “We’re excited to be the official sponsor for ACE13 and look forward to the event.”
