Enhances AMI performance & security

Mueller Systems has partnered with IT infrastructure provider Internap to enhance the performance of its two-way advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) network, the Mi.Net Mueller Infrastructure Network for Utilities. Mueller Systems, a division of Mueller Co., is a leading provider of innovative water infrastructure products and services and technologically advanced metering systems for water, electric and gas systems.

"Partnering with Internap for high-performance managed hosting services should enable users to more quickly and reliably access metering data through Mi.Host, the Mi.Net System's server and user interface software, without having to manage their own server environments," said Hassan Ali, vice president and general manager of Mueller Systems. "This enhancement will allow users to focus more on important water infrastructure improvements instead of worrying about whether or not they have enough server space to support the system."

Internap's scalable Managed Hosting solution is supported by its Performance IP service, which ensures fast, reliable Internet connectivity. Performance IP leverages numerous major carrier networks worldwide to provide diverse Internet routes in conjunction with Internap's patented Managed Internet Route Optimizer technology, which analyzes network performance characteristics to deliver customer traffic over the fastest, most reliable networks available in real-time.

The Mi.Net System enables utilities to improve operational efficiencies and customer service by fully automating the meter reading-to-billing process and linking meters, distribution sites and control devices in a single data network. It provides on-demand meter readings, e-mail alerts and alarms based upon near real-time information, as well as the ability for utilities to better manage their water and electric resources through on-going access to custom data and information.
