Marcos Elizondo Joins SCS Engineers

Elizondo has more than 20 years experience in the waste services industry

SCS Engineers (SCS) announces Marcos Elizondo has joined the firm as a project director.  He will be based in SCS’s Houston, Texas, office.

Prior to joining SCS, Elizondo was responsible for engineering and environmental compliance activities in the south U.S. region of a major waste services company encompassing eight states and Puerto Rico, encompassing 64 operating landfills, 34 closed landfills, 44 transfer stations and 18 recycling facilities.  His responsibilities included providing technical support to seven areas/markets and a technical staff of 36 engineers, environmental managers, environmental specialists and environmental technicians.

Elizondo’s 20 plus years experience also includes positions in private waste companies as a site engineer, district engineer, region engineer, general manager and district manager with P&L responsibility for landfills and transfer stations in Central Texas and the Houston area.  He has also provided technical support to projects in Mexico and Central and South America.  His diverse project experience includes constructing infrastructure and strategic planning to acquire required permits and implement new landfill designs; guidance, training and support to field staff for assuring regulatory compliance of operating landfills and transfer stations, regulatory reporting requirements and environmental monitoring requirements; and support for landfill-gas-to-energy projects that apply various technologies, including high BTU, medium BTU and electricity generation.

Elizondo earned a B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He is working towards a M.S. in management from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Elizondo is a member of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers; the American Society of Civil Engineers; the National Solid Waste Management Assn.; and the International Solid Waste Assn. He has a State of Texas Class A Landfill Operator Certification, TCEQ.
