Technologies support county waterworks district’s comprehensive capital improvement program
Innovyze, a leading global innovator of wet infrastructure modeling and simulation software and technologies, announced that the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works (LACDPW), California, has elected to adopt Innovyze’s InfoWater, InfoWater MSX and CapPlan smart water modeling and management solution software to support its comprehensive capital improvement program and optimize business performance. The purchase equips LACDPW with a comprehensive range of ArcGIS-centric (Esri, Redlands, Calif.) water infrastructure analysis and management capabilities, enabling it to address critical design, operational, water quality and capital investment planning issues with maximum effectiveness while improving customer service. The LACDPW comprises five waterworks districts, providing retail water service to Kagel Canyon, Malibu, Val Verde, Acton and the Antelope Valley. The districts also operate and maintain the Marina Del Rey water system on behalf of the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors, and manage the water quality programs for the City of Lomita and Peter J. Pitchess Honor Rancho water systems. LACDPW will use Innovyze programs to develop and calibrate accurate, comprehensive dynamic models of all its districts. These models will aid the enterprise in optimizing its capital improvement plans to provide maximum benefit for the lowest cost. “We were looking for a comprehensive, easy-to-use GIS-centric solution for both hydraulic and water quality network analysis and asset performance modeling that would help us optimize our complex water systems,” said Ray Razo, P.E., associate civil engineer, Waterworks Div. at LACDPW. “The Innovyze ArcGIS-centric smart water network management applications suite gives us a set of very powerful tools to tackle short- and long-term planning, operational and management challenges while maintaining the highest level of service for our customers.”
