Innovyze has announced that the utility serving Florida’s largest city, the Jacksonville Electric, Water, Wastewater and Reclaimed Utility (JEA), has selected InfoWorks WS to model and help manage its reclaimed water system. JEA already uses InfoWorks CS and InfoNet for collection system modeling and management.JEA’s water system consists of 134 artesian wells delivering more than 120 million gal of water a day through 36 treatment plants and 4,619 miles of waterlines. JEA’s sewer system comprises more than 3,925 miles of collection lines, 1,281 pump stations and six regional sewer treatment plants handling more than 60 million gal of wastewater per day. JEA also has a reclaimed water system to serve nonpotable uses, comprising 157 miles of pipe and delivering 13 million gal of reclaimed water a day. This system is undergoing significant scrutiny in order to maximize the existing infrastructure and deliver more reclaimed water through the diurnal patterns.“The InfoWorks vanguard platform has allowed us to model and manage our collection system effectively for many years,” said Travis Crane, water wastewater reliability specialist for JEA. “Adding InfoWorks WS to our portfolio gives us the new ability to model a distribution system with the same powerful workgroup interface. Using an industry standard relational database, the modeling solution gives utilities the ability to review and actively manage current and historical model network versions. In addition to providing full details of each modification made to the network geometry and control data, it also provides version IDs, date stamps and modeler details. A “data flags” feature shows origins of all source data, enhancing the confidence level in the quality of the model. A “compare” function allows the comparison of two model versions or sets of control data and the creation of a detailed report outlining the differences. The data can be applied to another network or control set to update changes. When new infrastructure is commissioned in a modeled area, this functionality enables users to update existing models rather than rebuild them, resulting in productivity and financial benefits.
