Infor, a provider of business application software, announced that the city of Des Moines, Iowa, received the Governor's Iowa Environmental Excellence Award for its stewardship in reducing the energy consumption and overall environmental impact of its wastewater treatment facility with the use of Infor10 EAM.
Within six months of implementation, the city's energy usage decreased by 100,000 kilowatt-hours, positioning the application to generate annualized savings of more than $200,000, which is more than four times original projections.
The system enables the city to take a proactive approach to asset management by providing real-time data access and automatic alerts that detect and prevent excess energy usage, creating a complete picture of operating and maintenance expenses. This insight has reduced plant operating costs and energy consumption of assets for immediate savings and a quick return on investment.
The city received the prestigious award for the use of system in its wastewater treatment facility, which accounts for approximately 50% of the city's monthly power costs.
