Southwest Water Grows in Southeastern U.S. with Acquisition of Novus Utility Services

Southwest Water Company has increased its market presence in the southeastern U.S. with the acquisition of the business of Novus Utility Services, Inc., a water and wastewater contract services company based in Birmingham, Ala. Novus operates and maintains public, private and industrial water and wastewater systems and provides a variety of related services.

"The Novus acquisition represents an important addition to our Services Group," said Anton C. Garnier, Southwest Water chairman and chief executive officer. "With our growing presence in Alabama, Mississippi and Georgia, we are a leading provider of contract water and wastewater services in the southeastern U.S. Novus offers an excellent fit with the Southwest Water family of companies."

Ed Becker, who founded Novus Utility Services in 1991, will remain as president of the acquired business, which Southwest Water has renamed Novus Utilities, Inc. "Our wide range of services offers clients the opportunity to custom-tailor contracts that meet their specific needs," said Becker.

Southwest Water Company provides a broad range of operations, management and maintenance services, including water production, treatment and distribution; wastewater collection and treatment; utility billing and collection; customer service; and utility infrastructure construction management.
