Peter J. Moerbeek Named President and COO of Southwest Water Company
Southwest Water Company has promoted Peter J. Moerbeek to president and chief operating officer. Moerbeek, 56, will remain president of the company's Services Group and a member of the Southwest Water board of directors.
"During his career at Southwest Water Company, Pete has helped us deliver outstanding financial results," said Anton C. Garnier, chairman and chief executive officer. "He has developed and implemented the strategic and operational plans that have generated significant expansion and consistent profitability improvement in our Services Group. The board of directors and I believe that his promotion to president and chief operating officer strengthens our succession plan. It will allow us to continue to focus our strategies and operational excellence in a constantly changing water industry and to provide long-term benefits for our stockholders."
Commenting on his new position, Moerbeek said, "I am looking forward to helping lead the Southwest Water team. Our ability to provide excellent customer and client service, and do so in a cost-effective manner, serves as the basis for our continuing growth. Our goal is to capitalize on our opportunities in both our Services Group and our Utility Group."
Moerbeek joined Southwest Water in 1995 as chief financial officer. He was assigned responsibility for the company's contract operations in 1997 and was appointed to the board of directors in 2001. In 2002 he was promoted to executive vice president of Southwest Water. He also served as secretary since joining the company, a role that Shelley A. Farnham, vice president of human resources, will now add to her responsibilities. Farnham, 48, has been with Southwest Water Company since 1998.
