United Utilities Files $2 Billion U.S. Shelf Offering

United Utilities Plc — the U.K. wastewater, telecommunications and electricity company — made a filing on Thursday with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to periodically sell up to $2 billion in debt securities.
The company, based in Warrington, England, plans to use the net proceeds for general corporate purposes, according to its shelf registration filing.
Under a shelf registration, a company may occasionally sell securities in one or more separate offerings. This would be done in amounts, at prices, and on terms to be determined at the time of sale.
