Thompson Pump to Introduce Pump Innovations at WEFTEC

Sept. 20, 2010
New pump series offers an oil-less vacuum technology priming system

Thompson Pump will reveal several pump innovations at the 2010 WEFTEC Trade Show in New Orleans at booth 427, including the new Thompson Pump series with oil-less vacuum technology (OVT) priming system.

According to Thompson, the OVT priming system offers multiple improvements to the traditional vacuum priming system. While both systems allow for a basic pump to prime automatically, Thompson claims the OVT does this more efficiently with lower maintenance and higher air handling for faster priming. In addition, the OVT system’s non-contacting rotors eliminate internal wear which increases longevity and provides the reliability of no decrease in performance over time.

The OVT system is dry running, and no recirculating oil is needed, making it more eco-friendly. According to Thompson, traditional vacuum priming systems require service every 5,000 hr, while the OVT priming unit requires service every 20,000 hr. This air-cooled priming system has no water levels or cooling system to maintain. The system can be used in a variety of applications, including sewer bypassing and well point dewatering.

According to Thompson, OVT priming system is tolerant to accidental liquid carryover, making it a rugged priming system option in the portable pump market.

The OVT priming system includes a performance warranty.
