SCADA System Helps Utilities Manage Collection Systems

May 4, 2016
System provides real-time alarms & data for problem identification & historical trending

The Mission Communications managed SCADA system helps municipalities better manage, operate and maintain collection and distribution systems. The Model M800 offers real-time alarms delivered by any combination of voice phone calls, text messages, e-mails, faxes and pages. These alarms—paired with real-time pump status, analog and flow data, as well as purpose-built reports help operators avoid pump failures and overflows—maintain compliance and access historical trending data.

The low-cost system is Web-based, making enhancements readily available to customers at no extra cost. The Web portal can be accessed anytime and anywhere from any Web-enabled device. Customers can identify areas of inflow and infiltration with the Flow vs. Rainfall report. They can also determine future capacity needs with the Capacity Estimator tool. Flow can be monitored without a flowmeter by using the Volumetric Flow Calculation tool. Pump cycles and pump runtimes can also be tracked to verify proper operation and maximum efficiency.

Mission Communications has offered highly reliable managed SCADA solutions to the water and wastewater industries for nearly two decades. More than 2,200 municipalities throughout the U.S. and Canada rely on the system to better manage their collection system. The company’s system is backed by a highly knowledgeable, customer-driven technical support staff to deliver quality assistance when needed. Mission’s price stability guarantee establishes a predictable cost of ownership, making annual budget planning considerably less challenging.
