ScienceLogic, a provider of artificial intelligence-driven monitoring solutions for multi-cloud management, announced one of Arizona’s largest utility providers, Salt River Project (SRP), adopted the ScienceLogic SL1 platform. Salt River Project is transitioning from legacy platforms to next-generation AI operations systems to facilitate service-level views across a dynamic application and infrastructure environment.

Salt River Project serves approximately one million end-users across a service area spanning three counties, including most of the Phoenix metropolitan area. To support that scale, Salt River Project relies on a complex network of IT infrastructure and applications to ensure comprehensive coverage at all times. The adoption of SL1, an AI operations automation engine, will allow Salt River Project to attain real-time visibility and greater situational awareness across its complex IT environment to provide reliable service and increase customer satisfaction.

Ecolab Opens Customer Experience Center in Bedford Park

Facility highlights smart water technologies that recycle wastewater and reduce freshwater consumption during manufacturing

Ecolab, a global company producing water, hygiene and energy technologies and services, will hold a grand opening event and tour of its new wastewater reclamation system and customer experience center at its Nalco Water production plant in Bedford Park, Illinois. See details to attend below.

The plant, which produces colloidal silica for a range of uses, including LED lights, digital screens and nanotechnology, is one of the largest of its kind in the world, and has implemented smart water technologies to recover, treat and reuse more wastewater than ever before. The new technologies are helping to reduce freshwater consumption at the plant by 20%.

The new customer experience center at the site is designed to demonstrate how smart water technologies can reduce water use, improve performance and optimize costs.

 

Hawk Measurement America & Flo-Corp Announce Merger

Combined company provides measurement technology & cloud-based monitoring solutions for smart water systems

Hawk Measurement America LLC and Flo-Corp, manufacturers and suppliers of advanced process instrumentation and cloud-based monitoring technology, announced the merger of the two companies creating a complete flow, level and asset monitoring solutions provider. The merger is effective Sept. 4.

“Hawk and Flo-Corp are merging to increase our already high commitment to our customers by bringing the most innovative products to market and establishing a manufacturing base in the Americas. This is a very exciting event for both companies, for our employees, and our customers,” said Jack Evans, president of Hawk Measurement. “By combining Hawk’s award-winning measurement technology, together with Flo-Corp’s measurement monitoring solutions within a subscription-based platform, we are increasing our ability to provide unmatched customer support, innovative technologies and system solutions.”

The combined company is privately held and will operate under the Hawk brand. Les Richards will remain CEO of Hawk Measurement Systems. Jack Evans will remain President of Hawk Measurement and Dave Grumney, CEO of FLO-CORP, will become VP of Sales for Hawk Measurement.

 

Opto 22 groov Epic Firmware Enhances Security & Adds Inductive Automation Ignition Options

Update adds virtual private networking (VPN), new network diagnostic tools & choice of Inductive Automation Ignition editions

Opto 22 announces the release of firmware update 1.4.1 for the groov EPIC Edge programmable industrial controller, expanding its capabilities. Engineers and developers will find helpful new networking options and tools, plus new software choices for automation and industrial internet of things (IIoT) applications.

For secure remote access to the groov EPIC, the system now offers virtual private network (VPN) client technology to connect to an OpenVPN-based VPN server. This option is a rare feature in programmable controllers and a key to creating secure data communication architectures, particularly with geographically dispersed systems.

Also with the new release, users can choose between Inductive Automation’s Ignition Edge or the full Ignition platform, whichever edition is better suited to the application. Choosing the full Ignition option allows groov EPIC to serve as an industrially hardened OPC-UA server to legacy PLCs—like Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Modbus, and more—eliminating the need to purchase, configure, and deploy Windows-based computers to perform this function.
