Ron Grimes Joins NSF as Manager of Regulatory Affairs

Sept. 20, 2007

NSF International announced today that Ron Grimes has been appointed manager of regulatory affairs.

As manager, Grimes will help build further awareness for NSF among state, county and local health departments and other regulatory and agency officials. He will also be responsible for advancing NSF’s mission, including greater use and reliance on NSF standards, certifications and related third-party programs.

Grimes has more than thirty years of experience in health departments. Prior to NSF, Grimes served as the health officer for Jackson County Health Department in Jackson, Michigan for 4 years. In this role, Grimes managed the implementation and direction of all programs, including environmental health, health education, nursing, clinics and various community programs. He also served as administrator of environmental health services for Michigan’s largest health division, Oakland County, where he oversaw all aspects of environmental health.

Grimes has held leadership positions at the National Environmental Health Association, beginning as second vice president in 2002. He just completed his five-year role as executive board member, which included one year as president for the organization. He is affiliated with multiple national and state environmental and public health organizations. Grimes has a master’s degree in health planning and administration from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s of science degree in environmental health from Indiana State University.

“With his extensive knowledge in environmental health and his commitment to supporting national and state organizations, Ron will play a key role in expanding NSF’s regulatory outreach programs as well as educating health officials about the importance of NSF standards, inspections and certification programs,” said Stan Hazan, senior director, NSF’s Regulatory Affairs and Association Programs.
