R. W. Beck, Tampa Bay Water Featured on Discovery Channel

May 5, 2003
While America celebrates National Drinking Water Week, May 4-10, Canadian viewers of the Discovery Channel will have a chance to see management consulting and engineering firm R. W. Beck, Inc. and its work on Tampa Bay Water’s multimillion water facilities. The one-hour TV series, "Frontiers of Construction," will air on Discovery Channel Canada. Check Canadian listings for times.

During the episode titled, "Making H20," R. W. Beck and its work for Tampa Bay Water — including the largest seawater desalination plant in North America and an extensive network including a surface water plant and reservoir — are featured.

The role of R. W. Beck’s expert staff of engineers and water consultants included providing Tampa Bay Water with assistance throughout the planning and development process.

"R.W. Beck worked on various aspects of the Tampa Bay Water Regional Water Plan — making sure that all of latest technology being put in place worked to meet the project objectives," according to Joe A. Dysard, II of R. W. Beck, who guided cameras through the Surface Water Treatment Plant for the program.

R. W. Beck’s Neil Callahan shared a national outlook about water shortages and innovative techniques such as the desalination plant for the TV audience. "As communities continue to grow and resources become maximized, drinking water resources will have to come from non-traditional sources such as taking ocean water and transforming it into drinking water," he said.Source: R.W.
