Poseidon Resources recently announced it has hired Scott Maloni as a company vice president. Maloni is a communications specialist with 14 years of professional public affairs experience. His responsibilities for Poseidon Resources include California-based project development and corporate communications. He will be located in Poseidon’s San Diego office.

Prior to joining Poseidon Resources, Maloni served as vice president of Public Policy Strategies, Inc., one of San Diego’s leading political consulting firms. Poseidon Resources has been a client of Maloni’s firm for the past five years.

“Scott’s work over the years has been instrumental in advancing the company’s Carlsbad Desalination Project,” said Poseidon Senior Vice President Peter MacLaggan. “His skill set and experience will strengthen a group of professionals at Poseidon that is already exceptionally talented. I look forward to having him on my team full time.”

“It’s important that Poseidon have strong assets like Scott as we advance our projects in California,” said Jim Donnell, Poseidon’s chairman of the board. “Scott’s familiarity with the company and its business philosophy will allow him to play a meaningful and multi-faceted role in our success,” said Donnell.

“California is facing enormous constraints on its water resources. Poseidon is recognized internationally as a leader in the development of seawater desalination facilities, and over the years I have developed a great admiration for the company and its professional team,” Maloni said. “I look forward to working full time to provide California with a new and reliable source of potable water.”

In 2004, the San Diego Metropolitan named Maloni one of San Diego’s “Top 40 under Forty.” Maloni is a 2006 graduate of the LEAD San Diego program, serves on the San Diego Downtown Partnership’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors, and is chairman of the Partnership’s Urban Planning and Design Committee. Maloni is also a member of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Public Policy Committee.

Maloni attended school in Providence, R.I., and graduated from Brown University with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy. Scott and his wife Kelli live in San Diego with their son and daughter.
