Partnership to Continue 10 More Years

Lebanon, Ore., city council members have extended their contract with CH2M HILL for another 10 years.

Building on a partnership that began 25 years ago, city council members in Lebanon, Ore., have unanimously voted for an early renewal of CH2M HILL OMI’s contract for continued operations and maintenance of the city’s wastewater and water systems.

The new 10-year agreement, approved on Oct. 24, was signed on Nov. 28, 2007.

Lebanon awarded CH2M HILL OMI its first full O&M project back in 1982, helping launch what has since become the industry’s top provider of contract O&M services. Following in Lebanon’s footsteps, several other Oregon cities through the years have selected CH2M HILL OMI as their partner, including Hood River, Roseburg, Coos Bay, Sweet Home and Dallas.

City officials also selected CH2M HILL to design and build a Siemens Cannibal Solids Reduction System at the wastewater treatment plant. The project is expected to reduce the amount of biosolids produced and lower disposal costs. CH2M HILL has provided engineering expertise to the city for more than 40 years.

When CH2M HILL OMI first began working with Lebanon in 1982, the company was responsible only for the 3 million gal per day (mgd) wastewater plant and associated biosolids handling. Just two years later, the wastewater facility was named Plant of the Year by the Pacific Northwest Pollution Control Association for its energy-conserving techniques. The partnership subsequently expanded to include O&M of an 8-mgd water treatment plant.
