The 2nd Annual Osmosis Membrane Summit will take place July 11 to 12, 2010, at the Town & Country Hotel in San Diego. The summit will be hosted by Statkraft (a Norwegian utility providing osmotic power), the American Membrane Technology Assn., Energy Recovery Inc. and Toray.
The two-day summit will serve as an information hub where scientists, engineers, planners, regulators, manufacturers, venture capitalists, water purveyors and utilities operations will explore the further development of osmotic membrane technologies and gain new knowledge of the challenges and opportunities of pressure-retarded osmosis and forward osmosis.
The first day will focus on creating a broader understanding of the market opportunities, to explore the support and funding possibilities, and to present some of the early examples of exploitation of the technology in the industry.
The second day will focus on technology and operations--providing an overview of the latest developments and progress plans towards pressure-retarded osmosis and forward osmosis applications. The goal is to provide an opportunity to work toward establishing common nomenclature, testing methods, modeling formulas and membrane characterization parameters in order to accelerate the development and create a recognized scientific basis for industrial utilization of this potential.
