NSF recognized for expansion into new global markets

NSF Intl. announced that it has received an Export Achievement Certificate from the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Israel Hernandez, director general of the U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service, presented NSF Vice President Bob Ferguson with the award during the American Exports and Emerging Markets program held on Friday, Feb. 8, at the Fairlane Club in Dearborn, Mich.

The U.S. Department of Commerce's Export Achievement Certificate recognizes companies working with the U.S. Department of Commerce's Commercial Service to increase export sales or open new international markets. NSF was recognized for its recent expansion into new global markets, including South Korea, Vietnam, Chile, France, South Africa and other markets in Asia and Central and South America. NSF now has customers in more than 100 countries around the world. NSF has worked with the Ypsilanti United States Export Assistance Center (USEAC) for nearly ten years.

NSF has relied on USEAC and the Commercial Service and its network of commercial specialists around the world to provide specific information and contacts for local markets, introductions to and meetings with key national government officials and information on international trade-related matters and market research support. NSF has also taken advantage of the Commercial Service's Gold Key Service many times to help identify potential overseas agents, distributors, sales representatives and business partners to expand their business.

Over the past few years, NSF Intl. has invested significant efforts into its international expansion strategy with the help of the Commercial Service and USEAC.

According to Bob Ferguson, "Today, NSF's international business accounts for more than 40% of our business, which is almost double where we were four years ago. Recent acquisitions, new partnerships and the opening of new international offices and laboratories all contributed to this growth. We look forward to USEAC's continued assistance in furthering this effort."
