Moving Water Industries Receives New Certifications

Florida manufacturing plant awarded ISO and SSPC certifications

Moving Water Industries (MWI) announced that they has attained ISO 9001:2008 and SSPC QP3(SM) certifications for its Deerfield Beach, Fla., manufacturing plant. The facility has previously held ISO 9001:2000 certification since 2003.

MWI's ISO 9001:2008 certification applies to its production operations, including the design, manufacture and servicing of axial, mixed flow, centrifugal and mobile pumps, as well as drill rigs and village water supply units, rebuilds and remanufacturing at the Deerfield Beach plant. ISO 9001:2008 certification is similar to ISO 9001:2000, which it replaces. In the updated standard, several restrictions have been tightened and language has been added to provide additional clarification.

The Society for Protective Coatings' SSPC QP3(SM) certification evaluates the practives of shop painting facilities. According to MWI, the standards are considered the minimum level of service and quality for today's coatings industry.

According to SSPC, "The complex nature of coating systems, the specific conditions and surface preparation required by these systems have made the QP3 guidelines vital to the longevity of protective coatings applied in the shop."

To be certified by SSPC, industrial contractors are required to demonstrate competence in several key area,s including management procedures, technical capabilities, quality control and health, and safety and environmental Compliance.

"Because of MWI's constant dedication to excellence in safety and quality standards, we have already undertaken all of the actions necessary to receive both of these certifications," said Keith Bickford, senior operations manager for MWI. "Documenting our processes and having them undergo the independent certification process is our way of demonstrating to our customers MWI's commitment to ensuring the highest quality and reliability in our pumps."
